Penton’s ResellerClub Presents HostingCon Europe Announces Jamie Woodruff as Conference Keynote

Ethical hacker to speak at the leading cloud and service provider industry conference

West Chester, Ohio, June 13, 2016Penton’s HostingCon, the premier event for the cloud and service provider ecosystem, is pleased to announce the keynote speaker for ResellerClub presents HostingCon Europe. Jamie Woodruff, leading authority on cybersecurity and ethical hacker will address the HostingCon audience in Amsterdam on October 11, 2016.

“Excited to speak at HostingCon!” said Woodruff. “People within the hosting industry take cybersecurity seriously not just from a company, but also from an end-user perspective.”

Woodruff entered the public eye when he successfully hacked Facebook as part of a student competition at Bangor University where he was studying computer information systems. He has since uncovered security holes in numerous high-profile operations, including Kim Kardashian’s website, which he hacked in May to reveal that it was putting her fans’ data at serious risk.

Woodruff is an expert on cyber issues, traveling internationally to talk at global corporations and the industry’s most important conferences. He is also writing a book on cyber intelligence and combating terrorism whilst pursuing a PhD in political science at Sheffield University.

He often speaks to the importance of system and network security and is known for disclosing world-wide exploits and vulnerabilities within leading security applications such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Apple and Google. Woodruff finds existing exploits by infiltrating the companies in question. He demonstrated this by impersonating a Domino’s pizza delivery boy at a large financial institution and gaining access to their server room via lock-picking. All carried out under fully authorized, ethical penetration testing.

Woodruff’s keynote presentation at HostingCon Europe will focus on what leaders in the service provider industry need to know to protect both their customers and their business. He’ll share his latest research in social engineering and human manipulation methodology as well as provide demonstrations for the audience.

“Cybersecurity is always a hot topic in our industry,” said Cheryl Kemp, Director and Conference Chair for HostingCon. “Our attendees and exhibitors are affected daily by security issues that cause a real threat not only to customers but to their bottom line. We’re excited to have Jamie address the latest trends in cybersecurity and how service providers can better protect themselves and their customers.”

The show will also feature a panel discussion led by cPanel General Counsel David Snead, addressing a different area of cybersecurity. This session will be focused on how the extent of government access to customer’s data fundamentally alters how the internet service provider ecosystem works.

“This show will tie a couple of things together that are really important to the market: security, innovation and the growing amount of startups that operate in our market,” said Mark Karsch, HostingCon advisory board member. “We want our attendees to come away smarter by understanding the next opportunities the market and technology offers.”

The conference, held at the Amsterdam Passenger Terminal on October 11-12, 2016, will focus on addressing issues and trends in the cloud and hosting industry. HostingCon is known for its vendor neutral education and opportunities for meaningful networking.
