There is just over a week remaining until Early Bird Registration closes for HostingCon Global 2017, and planning and preparations are in full swing. Planning for the industry-leading vendor neutral conference and trade show is in some respects the same each year. Remember extra business cards. Bring comfortable shoes. Some things are different each year though, based on the host city and the evolution of the event. Here are a few suggestions for 2017 in Los Angeles.
Plan to Uber (but beware surge pricing)
Los Angeles is known as a car city, but also as one with major traffic congestion. You need to get places, but you may not want to drive. Consider a cab if surge pricing is in full effect, but otherwise a service like Uber or Lyft will likely be your best option. There will also be a shuttle service operating between the three affiliated hotels and the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Choose Data Center World sessions
All Access Pass-holders can attend two from among most of Data Center World’s education sessions. Topics such as unikernals, mapping hybrid IT implementation, and automation beyond DevOps offer valuable learning opportunities for HostingCon attendees. You can check out the options on the Data Center World website, but keep in mind that Monday morning “extra” sessions are not included.
Plan extra time
It is always a good idea to arrive early for a major conference, and those who plan to stay an extra day rather than rush home open up the possibility of follow-up meetings with other attendees. It may also be easier and more enjoyable to squeeze in sight-seeing after HostingCon than during it. With Rodeo Drive, the Sunset Strip, famous beaches, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Disneyland all a short drive away, a once-in-a-lifetime experience can take just a few extra hours.
